My European Adventure

It's time to dust off my passport, count my leftover euros, pull out the carry on, and gear up the blog. I'm off on another adventure.

Well, almost. I don't leave until August, but it's never too early for me to get excited.

This time I'm off to five Baltic capitals. Stops include Copenhagen in Denmark, Tallinn in Estonia, Helsinki in Finland, Stockholm in Sweden, and St. Petersburg in Russia. We'll also stop in Rostock in Germany. Rostock was founded in 1419. It was nearly totally devastated during WWII. Today it is the home of the University of Rostock, the second oldest university in Northern Europe.

I'll be traveling with Road Scholar, the same tour company that I used for my Australia/New Zealand adventure. This trip is classified as an adventure afloat because our primary mode of transportation is a ship. We'll be traveling aboard the Norwegian Star, a 2300 passenger ship.

I've already started researching the history and culture of each stop on the itinerary and will post here from time to time until my departure in August. Check back if you want to learn more about the history of those cities.
